When we first opened Maybee in Leamington Spa, we weren’t simply launching a food shop. We were testing a vision. A vision that food can be more than fuel, more than a quick fix, more than another product to be consumed.
We believed, and still believe, that food has the power to transform. It can improve our health, regenerate our environment, and rebuild the social fabric that too often feels fractured. Maybee was created as a place to prove that convenience doesn’t need to come at the expense of quality, that vegetarian food isn’t a compromise, and that mindful eating can be accessible, joyful, and practical for everyday life.
These first months have been a journey. We met so many of you who share our values, who told us how refreshing it felt to find a place that aligned with your hopes for a healthier, more sustainable future. We also learned that changing habits isn’t easy, that the rhythms of everyday life demand simplicity, and that even the best ideas need refining before they can truly scale.
That’s why we’ve made the difficult decision to close our shop in Leamington Spa. Not because we are giving up. Not because the mission has failed. But because, like every startup, we must adapt, test, and pivot until we find the right product-market fit.
What doesn’t change is the heart of Maybee: our commitment to a better, more sustainable environment, to wellbeing, and to society as a whole.
While this chapter is ending, the spirit of Maybee is not. One day, in some new form, it may grow again and continue to spark hope and inspiration.
To our community: thank you.
Thank you for your support, your feedback, your belief in what we are building. If you share our values, if you believe food can be more than a transaction, that it can be a foundation for healthier, more sustainable societies, we invite you to stay connected with us.
